Feminine Pink feather wedding dress
A girl after my own heart - lots of intricate details, and for extra points make it pink!!
Andrea knew she wasn’t a white wedding dress kinda person, and pink seemed the natural choice to her when getting the opportunity to create a bespoke wedding dress. We kept it subtle, soft and feminine by layering my favourite porcelain chiffon over shell pink silk georgette. The bottom layer is embroidered with Chantilly lace, which reflects through the delicate sheer chiffon which is gently draped across the hip before flowing and falling in folds, The thigh split allows the pink layers to flow and for everybody to get a better glimpse and insight into the layered colours.
The train is also embroidered with hand made silk petals and flowers. This texture is mirrored at the neckline, where off-shoulder straps are created in Chantilly lace, and embroidered with feathers, silk petals and flowers.
The bodice it contracted in Chantilly lace and overlaid with light silk chiffon, pleated and wrapped over.
The dress is finished with. a wait ribbon and a handmade corsage to one side.
Now, this probably seems like a lot of details however each is so delicate, and more about creating texture than lots of different things all on one dress, which I think is an important distinction when designing your bespoke wedding dress.
Andrea also asked for a super fun dancing dress. She asked me about creating a light-up dress, and I had jest been working with. a fabric made with optic fibres in the weave, which gave an organza kind of quality.
Due to the nature of the fabric - when you cut the fabric in a certain way,, you cut off the connection to the (small) battery pack. The construction was simple, and shaped with pleats and a waist belt.
It was possible to cut the hem edge, furthest from the battery pack, and so we cut it into scallop shapes, and to block out the light, I masked with daisy shaped silk cut outs.
The dress turned out really cute, and with or without the light up element, its a cute little dress.
