Star-Mapped Celestial Bridal Gown
I love to tell stories through my dress designs, finding ways to weave history into the fabric of the wedding dresses I create.
When Brides travel half way around the world to see me, it’s imperative that I return the effort that she has made for me. Jackie wanted a dress embellished with stars, and in a blue and silver shade, and with a sparkling off-shoulder effect.
We started the process from afar, sharing design sketches and sending a toile in the mail.
Jackie’s partner came along for an in-person fitting, and together they talked about their home in Ohio, and all the things that were important to them.
We had the idea that the star embellishment layouts would be based on Star Maps from significant dates in their history as a couple - first date, engagement and the wedding date, as seen from Ohio.
The star map art work included constellations, moons and planets, embroidered in gold and silver beads, metallic threats, sequins and crystals.
Changeant, two-tone silk chiffon in blue and silver shimmered like the Milky Way.
The neckline was adorned with a halo of of beads, set apart from the sheer shoulders and décolleté.
A Cloudy Silver veil speckled with twinkling star sequins.
