Balletcore Bridal Inspiration in Paris
The bride, and the ballerina. The epitome of girlish childhood wedding dress heroines. It’s no wonder that we reference balletic details, silhouettes and frothy fabric details in bridal design.
Ballet lends itself beautifully to bridal design, with romantic, feminine and delicate details. Exaggerating movement with frothy textures and bold shapes in lightweight fabrics. Flouncy florals and frills, wispy frayed lace and chiffon, and layered feathers, contrasted with structured and cinching bodices emulating a perfect ballerina wedding dress.
Ballet flats became a fashionable shoe because the materials weren’t rationed and production wasn’t restricted in WW2 - so a designer had lots of ballet flats made because she couldn’t get materials for leather shoes.
Swan Lake provides the ultimate bridal inspiration for ballet core. For this bespoke wedding dress, feathers were laid overlapping in opposing directions giving a familiar and whimsical feathered look, but in a striped, unusual and intriguing detail.
Ballet Dress originated in the 17th and 18th century royal courts, based on court dress as reflected in our golden organza wedding dress with a basque waist and caged hip panniers.
