Chiffon Wedding Dress with Colourful Hand Painted Lace and embroidery.

Beautiful scenes from a Greek Island wedding. Never has there been a bride who has pulled together so many individual and contrasting ideas and details from different places, and steered them into a cohesive wedding look.

We found the perfect Guipure lace shapes, a mix of vintage lace and new in various sizes. We hand painted the lace and embroidered in clusters and posies. The Flowers were then embroidered into using silk threads to add texture and intrigue with satin stitch, french knots and bullion knots. Sophie also wanted to add a very specific colour blue, which didn’t lend itself to a lace flower or leaf shape as it became too bold and distracting against the other colours. Instead we dispersed the colour though hand stiched leafy vines which had a much more subtle effect.

Sophies first idea for her wedding dress was that of colourful embroidery. She had seen and tried a few, but the colour ways were muted , yet Sophie envisioned bright pinks, oranges and yellows.

Sophies second idea for the wedding dress was a medieval style reminiscent of Disney Princesses from beloved childhood movies, but rather than cinderella - think Rapunzel, Merida and Aurora , whith lace up fronts, and trumpet sleeves.

Sophie also wanted a peplum for her wedding dress, which was edged with a vine of colourful lace to highlight its shape.

Sophie’s Tiara belonged to her Greek Grandma, beaded loops and peeks, which worked perfectly, with the addition of a fresh new veil.
