Vintage Dior-inspired Ballgown
Laura had lots of 1950’s vintage inspirations to show me when we first started designing with references from 1950’s Dior, Lanvin, Elizabeth Taylor, and an array of over-sized pussy bows. Laura’s Dress was destined to be a vintage show stopper!
As a vintage boutique owner, it was Laura’s dream to buy vintage but those she loved either did not fit, were beyond repair or just weren’t quite perfect! So that’s when she found me!
For Laura, I made her a 1950’s style boned corset which cinched the waist to teeny proportions. The Corset was draped with zibeline silk, a beautiful textured fabric which catches the light so magically. From the silk, individual petals were cut, and then stitched together with a scatter of tiny silver beads and stitched densely over the bust and scattered down like cherry blossom onto the soft tulle skirts which floated to the ground. The dress was finished with Laura’s trademark over-sized pussy bow at the back waist (we couldn’t resist!).
