Mint Green and Gold Leafy Lace Dress, with a hint of Cosplay
Cecile wanted to combine her love of Art Nouveau and Cosplay into her wedding dress outfit.
She was very particular about the shade of green to be used for the dress, and together we chose a shade of Jade Celadon, which was both muted and fresh.
The skirt was to be long and flowing silk georgette, full, but not bulky. The lining layer was in a similar colour, but the fabric was a silk crepe satin, and so, a different texture to the chiffon, which Cecile wanted to feature more obviously. The top layers of the skirt were split at the sides, so that they would drift when walking and the silky sheen could be seen and admired.
The bodice was pretty much an empire line, though not is a flattening, nor buxom style like the regency period. Instead, it was designed in more of a balconette style like Art Nouveau paintings and illustrations, with a very softly pleated and draped wrap over, front and a low back.
With soft and fluttering butterfly sleeves,
The shoulders were embellished with filigree findings and brooches which featured leaves and flowers, as well as a piece that had been gifted by Ceciles sister many years before.
Under the bust, and falling down onto the skirts, gold french lace, and guipure lace was appliqued and embroidered onto the skirts.
I really enjoy the subtle details of Cosplay which Cecile brought to her bridal look. Did you notice her Victoriana boots, or her light sabre bouquet? And of course, her red velvet cloak.
