Romantic silk wedding dress with removable sleeves

Emma was torn between two ideas for her wedding dress - a wedding dress that was traditional and feminine and romantic, and a wedding dress that had a little rebellion, and a cool edge.

With a bespoke wedding dress, everything is possible and so we managed to subtly and cohesively combine the ideas together, creating a damsel style wedding dress with floaty chiffon sleeves, and shoulder frills, and embroidered with stars, with a low back, and a bird motif as a reminder of a much loved grand-mere.

Another of Emma’s ideas was to create a bespoke veil where the hem was densely embroidered with silk flowers in the colours of her wedding flowers, made to look as though they had been scooped up when walking through a field of flowers.

The veil style is reminiscent of a 1920’s Juliet Cap, fixed at either side of the head, and embroidered with lace star motifs.

For the ceremony, Emma wanted sleeves to have a romantic look. Made in satin chiffon silk with a gather at the shoulder and a double frill of lace and chiffon following the shoulder and the back neckline.

For the reception however the sleeves could be removed, transforming the dress into a flirty summer wedding dress.

The white silk of Emma’s wedding dress is Satin chiffon, which remains light weight and floaty yet give and impression of an opaque fabric, meaning it will fall in folds, and skims the body beautifully.

Emma and her partner hosted their wedding at Chateau Fengari, and their photographs were captured by French wedding photographer Jennifer Lescouet.
