Floral Print Wedding Dress
Beth’s dress was an extra special task for me! After seeing Beth’s floral fabric inspirations, I knew that it would be near impossible to find the perfect design, so we would have to design it ourselves!
Beth wanted a hand painted effect, and I felt that most control would come from a digitally printed technique.
Various water colour images of leaves and flowers and shades of purples and greens were painted for Beth to choose from, which were scanned so that the print could be manipulated in Photoshop to make sure that each floral burst was positioned in the perfect place within the dress and didn’t look like a repeat pattern.
A floral burst radiates from the waist organically and asymmetrically from the waistline, and drape down the skirt in sprigs and posies.
The dress itself is a fitted bodice to the waist with a simple v-neck and fine straps, and the skirt is cut in a circular design in soft silk crepe which skims the figure and drapes in folds. Beth decided not to have a train for her dress to suit the casual garden party wedding reception. She did decide though to add quite a high thigh split in the skirt, and so we added a hint of colour in the lining with a pale blue/green lining silk.
