Wrap-style chiffon and lace dress with purple crystal details
Sarahjane was a dream to work with, she wasn’t entirely sure what suited her, and knew only that she liked soft floaty fabrics, and that she wanted to use some purple detailing. She let me take over the design completely (Yippee!).
Wearing a full length white dress is not an outfit that you wear everyday, and Sarahjane didn’t want to feel out of place, though of course she wanted to stand out as the bride. Which seems a contradiction, but it makes sense to me, and for a lot of brides too I’m sure!
We decided on a high-waisted, floaty wrap-dress, a luxury take on a classic style, in satin and chiffon, with subtle gathered pleats which form across the body, instead of downwards. A circular style skirt meant that the dress clung to her curves, but billowed and floated as she glided down the aisle.
After visiting a lovely lace shop in London, Sarahjane chose some beautiful Chantilly Lace, which was part corded, so we had a mixture of delicate detail with some texture too.
To add some variation to the lace, we chose a similar design which was fully chorded. With this, I cut out each individual corded flower and pieced it altogether along the curved waistband making an organic and almost 3-dimentional belt detail, which was embellished with Sarahjanes must-have sequin and crystal bead work in shades of purple to reflect her bouquet of flowers.
